Texas Football five-star commit continues visiting other schools

When it comes to the 2027 class, the Texas Longhorns have had a lot of success on the recruiting trail. So far, Steve Sarkisian and his staff have secured commitments from six players, including highly regarded wide receiver Easton Royal. While Royal committed to Texas in November, he is still visiting other schools.

The five-star wide receiver is set to visit Florida and Tennessee this spring. The Florida trip comes as no surprise, as Royal was supposed to visit the Gators in January before bad weather hit. Now he will finally be making the trip to Tallahassee. While Florida will be attempting to flip Royal, it is not time to panic for the Longhorns faithful.

Over the last few months, Royal has reinforced his commitment to Texas. He is also scheduled to be in Austin this spring for an official visit. That trip will give Sarkisian and his staff the opportunity to build on their relationship with the Mississippi native.

Before committing to the Longhorns, Royal drew interest from some of the top programs in the nation. The Brother Martin High star received offers from LSU, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Auburn, and Baylor. While those programs have all had various degrees of success, Royal saw Texas as the best place to start his college career.

Although Royal has shown no signs of changing his decision, his skills have kept other programs intrigued. He is ranked as the fourth-best wide receiver in his class by 247Sports. They also rank the star wideout as the 24th-best player in the nation. Whenever he is on the field, Royal has been a matchup nightmare.

While Florida and Tennessee will do everything they can to flip Royal, they face a tough task ahead. He is expected to be a key piece of the Longhorns offense starting in 2027, and Sarkisian and his staff will have at least one chance to show him what his future at Austin will hold.
