State authorities have identified a Dumas man who was killed in a crash early Thursday in Moore County.
A preliminary crash investigation indicated that a 2018 Dodge Ram 3500 was traveling north on FM 119, southwest of Sunray, at about 6:32 a.m. May 14, while a 2025 CFMOTO-675 Motorcycle was heading south.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the driver of the Dodge failed to yield the right of way while turning left into a business and struck the motorcycle.
The motorcycle’s rider, identified as 23-year-old Matthew Encinias of Dumas, was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been wearing a helmet.
The pickup’s driver had been wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
The posted speed limit was 75 mph, with dry and clear conditions at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
