After securing its first Sweet 16 victory in 24 years, the Texas A&M volleyball program is up 2-1 over the No. 1 seed Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Tournament at John Cook Arena.
The Aggies’ miraculous reverse sweep of Louisville on Friday showed that this team has the determination and talent to beat any team in the country, which showed up massive Sunday in the first two sets against the Cornhuskers. Texas A&M is within one set win away from sweeping Nebraska. Kyndal Stowers, Emily Hellmuth and Logan Lednicky have combined for 37 kills and six blocks, while the Aggies have hit .298 as a unit.

Reaching this position in the postseason consistently and changing the culture were always the goals for head coach Jamie Morrison. When he walked through the doors of the Aggie facility for the first time, he implemented a winning standard. Now, Texas A&M has the ultimate matchup to seize that opportunity and make more history against the No. 1 team in the country.
It will require leaders like Lednicky, who moved to third all-time in career-kills against Nebraska, and Ifenna Cos-Okpalla to step up and shine against a Nebraska squad that is undefeated this year. The Cardinals snatched a 2-0 lead against the Aggies on Friday because of some inconsistent play in the closing moments of sets, which must be cleaned up against a unit that is tremendously less forgiving.
