Texas A&M lands a key commitment from Illinois transfer kicker

Texas A&M continues to check off its biggest offseason needs, and on Monday, the Aggies secured another key piece. After hosting him on a weekend visit, former Illinois junior kicker David Olano has committed to Texas A&M, giving the program a proven specialist at one of its most pressing positions.

Kicker transfer news doesn’t usually move the needle for Aggie fans, but this year is different. After converting just 61 percent of their field‑goal attempts last season, the position became one of the roster’s most urgent priorities. The staff clearly felt the same way and wasted no time targeting one of the top specialists in the transfer portal.

Olano arrives in College Station following an impressive 2025 campaign, finishing 20-of-23 with a long of 47 yards. He also showcased his composure in the clutch, drilling a 29-yard walk‑off field goal to win the 2025 Music City Bowl. For a team entering 2026 in need of reliability and consistency in the kicking game, Olano checks every box.
