Texas A&M’s recent history of recruiting and developing top running backs has continued under head coach Mike Elko and RB coach Trooper Taylor, led by this season’s elite room, featuring seniors Le’Veon Moss, Amari Daniels, and EJ Smith, sophomore Reuben Owens, and intriguing freshman Jamarion Morrow, who have all impressed through the first five games.
On the recruiting trail, the coaching staff has prioritized the position, securing two of the top running back prospects in the 2026 class. Four-star backs KJ Edwards and Jonathan Hatton Jr. have both shut down their recruitments and are expected to sign with the Aggies during Early Signing Day on December 4.

This momentum has reportedly continued into the 2027 cycle, as the No. 3-ranked running back in the class is now predicted to land with Texas A&M. According to Rivals recruiting insiders Steve Wiltfong and Sam Spiegelman have logged their “expert” predictions for the Aggies’ to land four-star RB Landen Williams-Callis’s commitment after visiting College Station this weekend during Texas A&M’s 31-9 win over Mississippi State.
Williams-Callis is one of the top running back prospects for a reason, already rushing for 4,049 yards and 66 touchdowns during his freshman and sophomore seasons at Randle HS in Richmond (TX), including 2,103 yards and 43 touchdowns during his 2024 junior campaign.
Even more notable, Williams-Callis is the cousin of former Oregon State and NFL running backs Jacquizz and James Rogers. At the same time, his uncle is a former Colorado State standout and All-Pro safety Michael Lewis. According to Rivals, Williams-Callis is currently positioned as the 32nd-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 3-ranked running back, and the sixth-ranked prospect in Texas.
