Texas A&M coach Bucky McMillan entered his first full offseason with plenty of pressure to rebuild the roster after taking his first roster, completely built from the transfer portal, to the NCAA Tournament. Senior forward Rashaun Agee, who led the Aggies in scoring and rebounds, will be hard to replace, but based on Wednesday’s transfer haul, the Aggies are in fantastic shape heading into the fall.
Already landing Kansas State star transfer guard PJ Haggerty and former Radford guard Lukas Walls, the Aggies entered the week with little momentum based on the lack of news regarding any new transfers, but as soon as Wednesday arrived, McMillan and his veteran coaching staff came away looking like the smartest group of men in College Station.
Laying the foundation with Haggerty’s commitment, Texas A&M quietly gained traction with one of the top scoring combo guards in the NBA G-League, landing Bryson Warren’s commitment, who played for the Westchester Knicks this past season, and averaged 19.9 PPG, 5.0 APG, 3.0 RPG, and 1.1 STL in 33 minutes a night.
While this created some controversy, Warren has not played college basketball and should receive a waiver before the 2026 season, bringing together two of the best young guards in the country, knowing that Haggerty averaged nearly 24 points per game last season.
Even better, just hours after Warren’s commitment, former Indiana transfer forward Mackenzie Mgbako, who missed all but a handful of games during the 2025 season, announced his return after undergoing surgery this offseason, which was assumed but is now official.
It didn’t stop there, as McMillan’s recent visit with LSU transfer guard Jalen Reece became the latest Aggie commit, who averaged 12 PPG, 6.8 APG, and shot 37% from beyond the arc during his final eight games last season. Right now, the Aggies are a transfer center, a forward, and possibly one more guard for depth, competing for an SEC title in 2027.
Was this the best day in Texas A&M basketball history? Possibly.
