'Ted Lasso' gives Dani Rojas a farewell ahead of Season 4 premiere

Dani Rojas is no longer with A.F.C. Richmond.

That seemed pretty obvious when the actor who plays the striker on the Apple TV show “Ted Lasso,” Cristo Fernandez, signed a contract with the El Paso Locomotive earlier this summer and even appeared in a Cup match, but fictitious English Premier League squad A.F.C. Richmond made it official with a “farewell post” on Instagram.

That became increasingly apparent when Fernández signed with El Paso Locomotive FC earlier this year and later made his debut in a Cup match for the club.

Now, the fictional English soccer club has seemingly made the split official.

In an Instagram post styled as an “official club statement,” A.F.C. Richmond thanked Dani Rojas for his contributions to the club and wished him success as he begins a new chapter with El Paso Locomotive FC. The post praised the character’s energy, goal-scoring ability and impact on teammates and fans before ending with the message, “Once a Greyhound, always a Greyhound.”

The farewell comes after Fernández signed with El Paso Locomotive FC following an extended tryout with the USL Championship club.

Fernandez has not been publicly confirmed as part of the cast for Season 4 of “Ted Lasso,” which is scheduled to premiere Wednesday, Aug. 5. The new season will focus on a women’s team, marking a shift in the show’s storyline. However, it remains unclear whether he will appear in the upcoming season.

His current team, El Paso Locomotive FC, plays at Orange County on Saturday, Aug. 1, and hosts Monterey Bay on Wednesday, Aug. 5. His only appearance for the club came in a Cup game, and no more Cup games remain on the schedule. He has yet to appear in a USL Championship match, and it remains unclear whether or when he will.

When does season 4 of Ted Lasso come out?

“Ted Lasso” returns for its fourth season on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
