Six Texas A&M players earn nine All-SEC honors

Six Texas A&M baseball players received All-SEC honors on Monday after a valiant 39-13 regular season where the Aggies finished #9 in the USA Today Sports Coaches Poll.

First baseman Gavin Grahovac earned a host of honors from the conference after a remarkable comeback season. He finished the season with a .351/.436/.725 slash line, but his 3.85 GPA as a sports management major was what earned him the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. Grahovac ranked top-3 in the SEC in slugging percentage and RBIs and top-10 in batting average and home runs, which secured his spot on the All-SEC First Team. He wrapped up his sweep of the awards with a placement on the SEC All-Defensive Team.

Alongside Grahovac, second baseman Caden Sorrell was the other leader of this Aggie team. His .343/.434/.768 slash line, 74 RBIs, and 23 homers rival Grahovac’s impressive season, finishing second in the conference in home runs, RBIs, and slugging percentage. Like his co-star, Sorrell earned All-SEC First Team and SEC All-Defensive team honors.

Outfielder Chris Hacopian, who is on an active 16-game on-base streak against SEC opponents, rounds out the Aggies’ trio of All-SEC First Team fielders. After transferring from Maryland for his junior season, Hacopian started in all of Texas A&M’s conference games and posted a strong .315/.407/.555 slash line.

Clayton Freshcorn led the conference with 12 saves, earning a spot on the All-SEC First Team as a reliever. His 2.42 ERA ranked in the top-10 of the SEC, and his 1.05 WHIP fell inside the top-20 during a spectacular season for the righty pitcher.

The Aggies had two fielders make the All-SEC Freshman Team: third baseman Nico Partida and outfielder Jorian Wilson. Partida had an incredible start to the season, earning Perfect Game’s Midseason Freshman of the Year honors, while Wilson was a late riser after landing on the starting lineup in March.
