Texas Tech senior center Sheridan Wilson has been named to the 2025 Rimington Trophy Watchlist. He joins an elite group of the nation’s top centers as the Red Raiders head into the new season.
The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in NCAA Division I college football. This year’s watchlist represents the top 40 centers in the country.
For the first time, the Rimington Trophy committee partnered with Pro Football Focus (PFF) to help build the list. PFF grades every player on every play of every game. That data, combined with nominations from schools around the country, shaped this year’s group of honorees.
The Rimington Trophy winner is determined using first-team All-America selections from three organizations: the Walter Camp Foundation, Sporting News, and the Football Writers Association of America. The center who earns the most first-team votes wins the award. Ties are broken by second-team votes, and if necessary, by a vote of the Rimington Trophy Committee using PFF data.
Wilson is one of four centers representing the Big 12 on this year’s list, alongside Anthony Boswell (Houston), Bruce Mitchell (BYU), and Landen Livingston (West Virginia). He’s the only Red Raider on the watchlist, anchoring a Texas Tech offensive line that will look to him for leadership and consistency up front in his senior season.
It is also the second awards list Wilson finds himself on, as he was one of three Texas Tech football players to find themselves on the Outland Trophy Watchlist. That award is given to the nation’s top interior linemen. Wilson will be the anchor of a very talented and experienced Texas Tech offensive line for the 2026 season.
The award is named for Nebraska great Dave Rimington. He was a two-time consensus All-American and the only two-time winner of the Outland Trophy.
Wilson’s inclusion on the preseason watchlist is a strong early signal for Texas Tech fans watching the trenches this fall. This is a group worthy of watching play-to-play rather than following the ball. Their performances will naturally draw anyone’s eyes to the ball, for better or worse.
As the season progresses, the Red Raiders’ offensive line success could help push Wilson toward the Rimington Trophy’s short list of finalists later this year.
