An initiative is putting 60 laptops into local veterans hands to bridge the digital divide, according to a media release.
Businesses and others worked together for the distribution of the laptops earlier this month to military veterans in San Angelo.
“Since 2021, AT&T has distributed nearly 23,000 computers to students and families across Texas and will give away 30,000 laptops nationwide in 2026 as part of our initiative to help address the digital divide,” an AT&T media release said.
AT&T, Compudot, state Rep. Drew Darby’s Office and West Texas Counseling and Guidance Veterans Services teamed up for the distribution on Aug. 4 at the Cactus Hotel, the media release said.
WTCG thanked the Texas Veterans Commission, Texas Workforce Commission, Workforce Solutions of the Concho Valley, Concho Valley Workforce Development Board, Concho Valley Community Action Agency, Tom Green County Veteran Service Officers, Judge Lane Carter, Angelo State University, MHMR Concho Valley and Concho Valley Turning Point for supporting the event, according to a Facebook post.
