A suspect in an armed robbery is believed to have barricaded himself inside a Downtown El Paso business, authorities said.
El Paso Police Department officers responded to the aggravated robbery call about 3:50 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at a business in the 900 block of South Stanton Street, a police alert said.
There are several clothing stores and other businesses on the block near the foot of the Stanton international bridge.
Preliminary information has led police to believe the suspect barricaded himself inside a business. A weapon was involved in the aggravated robbery, the alert states.
No further information has been released as police continue to investigate the incident.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area because a weapon was involved in the incident. Traffic is closed in the area as of 4:40 p.m. Wednesday.
