The Texas Tech Red Raiders dominated last year in the college football season, going 12-2 overall and winning the Big 12 title to clinch their first appearance in the College Football Playoff. The team is looking even stronger this year, with a strong group of defensive tackles headlined by A.J. Holmes Jr., while Will Hammond will be the team’s new starting quarterback.
For the past several weeks, there have been predictions going around about the upcoming college football season, including about who will make the playoffs and where teams might finish. Texas Tech is expected to have another good season, and College Football News’ latest CFP prediction from Pete Fuitak has them claiming the No. 11 seed with a 10-3 record.
The list also includes projected playoff matchups. Texas Tech was predicted to play the Miami Hurricanes in the matchup between the No. 6 and No. 11 seeds, with Miami being projected to win.
The final prediction is that the LSU Tigers will face off against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Jan. 18 for the national championship.
The Red Raiders will start their journey to the playoffs on Sept. 5 when they host the Abilene Christian Wildcats on Sept. 5 in Galaxy Stadium. The game is set to start at 6 p.m. CT and will be on FS1.
