Fatal pedestrian traffic collision closes US 54 Patriot Freeway in Northeast El Paso

A deadly collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle has closed the southbound lanes of the U.S. 54 Patriot Freeway in Northeast El Paso, police said.

An unidentified man died in the early-morning collision, El Paso police spokesman Officer Adrian Cisneros said in an update.

The collision occurred about 4 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, on the southbound lanes of U.S. 54 near Ellerthorpe Avenue near Chapin High School, according to the Texas Department of Transportation online traffic map and a message from Cisneros.

Further details on the collision have not been disclosed.

The crash is under investigation by the police Special Traffic Investigations Unit.
