A New Mexico woman died after she was speeding in her car and crashed into the back of a trailer in El Paso’s Upper Valley, authorities said.
Brissa Celestte Rodriguez, 23, was driving a 2015 Nissan Sentra about 6:35 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, in the 900 block of Artcraft Road when she crashed into the back of a 2020 Freightliner semitruck hauling a 2020 Landoll trailer, El Paso Police Department spokeswoman Detective Judy Oviedo said in a news release.
An investigation by police revealed that Rodriguez was driving at a “high rate of speed and rear-ended the back” of the trailer, the news release states. The front of the Nissan Sentra became wedged under the trailer.
Rodriguez died from the injuries she suffered in the crash.
Police believe speeding and failure to stop are contributing factors in the collision, the news release states. The crash remains under investigation.
This is the 19th traffic-related fatality in the El Paso city limits in 2026, compared to 21 at the same time last year.
