Texas A&M will leave the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series with a winning record after defeating Arizona State 9–3 on Sunday night, improving to 10–1 on the season.
The Aggies responded the way a top‑tier team should after being run‑ruled on Saturday, delivering a composed, complete performance against a quality opponent. Caden Sorrell hit his fourth home run of the season to get the scoring started, and it was like a boost of energy for the team. Freshman Nico Partida continued his strong early-season campaign, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
As a team, A&M showed patience and poise in the batter’s box, drawing seven walks and collecting eight hits. While eight runners were left stranded, the Aggies are still tinkering with lineup combinations, and the overall approach at the plate was a step forward.
On the mound, A&M’s staff showed command and efficiency, allowing just six hits and three walks while striking out six. The defense backed them up with a clean sheet, committing zero errors and turning a critical double play in the top of the fifth to keep the Sun Devils from gaining momentum.
The Aggies now return to College Station for a five-game homestand as they continue building toward SEC play, which opens March 13 against Oklahoma. With conference play approaching, head coach Michael Earley will look to iron out the remaining wrinkles and solidify a lineup capable of competing with the league’s best.
