Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns fans are breathing a sigh of relief today after medical tests revealed running back Jaydon Blue’s injury isn’t serious. Blue injured his ankle at Cowboys Training Camp in Oxnard on Thursday and had to be carted off the field to the medial tent. But an MRI has revealed a bone bruise on his heel and not a sprained or broken ankle.
Blue was able to walk to the locker room under his own power. The Cowboys 5th round pick has been impressive so far in training camp. After some shaky mini-camps, Cowboys running back coach Derrick Foster has been impressed with his new found maturity.
The Klein Cain High School product’s biggest issue at Texas was holding onto the ball. Fumbles led to decreased playing time for Blue last season. The emergence of Quintrevion Wisner helped Texas, but hurt Blue’s stock.
Blue could be a big part of the Cowboys offense this season if he fixes the fumbling issues he had in Austin. He could be a better version of Tony Pollard in Dallas.
