Former Texas A&M defensive lineman and current Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Shemar Stewart was carted off the field on Wednesday after reportedly suffering a leg injury during training camp.
He appeared to hyperextend his left leg during an 11-on-11 period and was forced to use the cart to get off the field. You can watch the play here, but it is gruesome. Cincinnati has not provided an update on his status.
The Bengals took Stewart with the 17th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but he struggled to make an impact as a rookie. He held out in his first training camp due to a contract dispute and was limited to just eight games after suffering several injuries as a rookie. He finished with 11 tackles, 1.0 sack, 2.0 tackles for loss, and four quarterback hits.
He was looking to take advantage of his first full training camp with the Bengals, who added several new pieces to their defensive line this offseason, including drafting another Aggie in Cashius Howell in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Stewart’s athleticism and versatility make him a key piece for Cincinnati’s defense.
