After two seasons with the Texas Longhorns, Cambria Salmon is taking her talents to the West Coast. The California native who recently entered the transfer portal has decided to join UCLA. While the Longhorns have a few options to fill her spot in the bullpen, she will be missed at the Forty Acres.
In two seasons for Texas, Salmon posted a 2.33 ERA in 26 appearances. She also helped opponents to a .225 batting average while adding 78 strikeouts to her resume. While she was limited to four appearances during the 2026 campaign, the Beaumont High Alum was lights out when she was on the mound.
Coming out of high school, expectations were high for Salmon given how scouts viewed her. The newest Bruin was ranked as the fourth best recruit in her class by Extra Innings Softball. That is partly why she was quickly scooped up in the portal.
Although Salmon’s time in Austin was shorter than expected she made the most of her outings. She finished her freshman season with a 2.48 ERA, which was the second-lowest on the team. The talented lefty also showed that she could thrive in various roles making 10 starts during her Longorns tenure. her versatility will be a welcome addition to UCLA.
With two years of eligibility remaining, Salmon should be an important piece of the Bruins bullpen. If she can replicate her success as a Longhorn, then the UCLA bullpen will not be an easy one to face.
