The 2025 Socorro High School softball team was El Paso’s best with 30 wins and a District 1-6A title.
The 2026 Bulldogs might be better.

On Tuesday night, March 17, the Bulldogs’ talented team was on display in a 10-4 road win at Eastlake. The win gave Socorro its 20th win of the season, pushing them to 2-0 in district. Eastlake is 18-8 overall and 2-1 in district.
“We’re playing well,” Socorro coach Shawn O’Neal said. “We had a great season last year, but we have been even more motivated this year.”
That motivation stems from losing to Midland High in the bidistrict round of the UIL playoffs last season.
“I believe this year’s team can go multiple rounds deep in the playoffs,” O’Neal said.
In Tuesday’s win, second baseman Danna Guerrero hit two home runs. First baseman Danielle Lozoya had four hits and drove in three runs, catcher Mia Dominguez hit a home run, and pitcher Haley Rodriguez pitched six scoreless innings before Eastlake mounted a strong effort to score all of its runs in the seventh inning.
“We knew we would have a target on our back, but our connection and bond we have is all that matters,” Lozoya said. “Every day we want to be better than the day before.”
Added Guerrero: “I’ve been in a mental slump, but having my team to support me and cheer me up, that gave me confidence.”
