El Paso’s star wrestler Hailey Delgado qualified for Team USA’s women’s freestyle squad, which is set to compete in the 2026 U17 Pan American Championships April 2-4 in Panama City, Panama.
Delgado was one of 10 wrestlers, who qualified for Team USA at the competition in North Liberty, Iowa, on Friday, March 6.
Delgado was one of two champions to win by technical fall in the finals, where she won a 13-2 affair with one second left in the match. Delgado defeated Sophia Marie Gonzales in the finals in the 49 KG Division.
Delgado is a sophomore at Eastwood High School and helped the Troopers to a pair of Class 6A state team championships. She has also won individual state titles at 100 pounds and 110 pounds.
