A pedestrian died at a hospital days after being struck by a motorcycle while crossing a street in Northeast El Paso, police said.
Northeast resident Basheer Farajallah Younis died of injuries sustained when he was hit by a motorcycle while walking across Fred Wilson Avenue in the early morning of Aug. 2, stated an El Paso police news release by Officer Adrian Cisneros, a police spokesman, issued on Friday, Aug. 14.
The collision occurred about 1:40 a.m. when Younis, who was not in a crosswalk, was crossing in the 3700 block of Fred Wilson Avenue, about a block uphill (west) from Dyer Street, police said.
Younis collided with a 2024 Kawasaki 500 driven by Ramiro Ramirez, 27, of Las Cruces, that was heading east on Fred Wilson. Both the pedestrian and the motorcyclist were injured and hospitalized, police said.
The medical examiner’s office on Aug. 8 notified police traffic investigators that Younis died of his injuries, police said. The condition of Ramirez was not disclosed.
The case was the 33rd traffic-related death in El Paso in 2026, according to Police Department statistics.
