Texas A&M baseball (18–5, 2–4 SEC) finished the week at 2–2 after dropping its SEC home‑opening series to No. 7 Georgia (20–5, 4–2 SEC) in Bryan‑College Station. The Aggies entered the weekend with a fully healthy lineup, but across the first two games they couldn’t match the Bulldogs’ pitching when it mattered most. Georgia out‑hit A&M 26–14 in Games 1 and 2, and the Aggies struck out 19 times while producing just six total runs over those 18 innings.
Pitching issues continued to surface. In Game 1, Shane Sdao endured a rough start, allowing five runs in the first three innings before the bullpen surrendered four more in the final two frames. Game 2 offered a similar script. Weston Moss showed flashes but was tagged for three solo home runs in the first three innings and another in the fourth. With the offense unable to counter, Georgia secured the series.
A&M finally broke through in the finale. Playing with nothing to lose, the Aggies stayed aggressive at the plate and erupted for a four‑run sixth inning to take an 8–2 lead that held as the final score. It was the response they needed, salvaging the weekend and preventing a sweep.
The offense delivered its best performance of the series on Sunday, collecting 16 hits to Georgia’s four. Freshman Nico Partida launched a grand slam, the team added four doubles, and the Aggies pushed across 18 runs. On the mound, Aiden Sims turned in one of his strongest outings of the season, working 5.2 innings with two hits, one walk, eight strikeouts, and three errors behind him that didn’t derail his rhythm.
For the second straight week, Texas A&M won its midweek matchup but dropped its SEC series. The jury remains out on second‑year head coach Michael Earley. The Aggies are showing improvement compared to this point last season, but in‑game decisions continue to draw scrutiny, and the pitching staff remains inconsistent. Stabilizing the rotation and limiting early deficits will be essential as conference play intensifies.
