Dallas Cowboys news. Tickets are already on sale for Cowboys' opener

The Dallas Cowboys don’t have a schedule yet and Caleb Downs doesn’t have an official jersey number yet, but there are people already selling Cowboys tickets and Downs jerseys who are happy to take your money.

While official tickets aren’t on sale yet, Dallas knows its opener is in New York (well, the Meadowlands) and the secondary markets are already moving pricey tickets. They also know their Thanksgiving opponent: the Philadelphia Eagles.

The schedule will drop soon enough, on Thursday, and expect Dallas to be playing a bunch in prime time because they are the Cowboys. Here is what they are doing.

New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys

Official tickets have yet to go on sale for Dallas’ Sept. 13 Sunday night opener at the New York Giants, but secondary markets are already offering selections and they aren’t cheap, except by World Cup standards.

As of Monday afternoon on StubHub, tickets were starting at $192 for the upper deck and $352 in the lower deck. The most expensive ticket was $2,160, which was almost $1,000 more than the second most expensive ticket.

Dallas Cowboys 2026 schedule

As expected, the NFL is dribbling out games in advance of Thursday night’s schedule release, and Dallas has learned that it is opening on prime time, Sunday night, Sept. 13, at the New York Giants in what will be the debut of their new coach, John Harbaugh. Later Monday, they learned they will be hosting the Philadelphia Eagles on Thanksgiving.

Beyond that (and the Sept. 27 game at Rio de Janeiro against Baltimore), there is conjecture, and the Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox has done some of that, speculating on which teams will have the most prime time games.

Not surprisingly, he has the Cowboys high on that list despite their mediocre 2025, with six projected prime-time games. That has Dallas tied for second with the defending champion Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills and behind the Los Angeles Rams.

Knox writes: “The Cowboys failed to make the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, but there are reasons to believe that they’ll regularly be featured in standalone games this season.

“For one, Dallas is almost always considered a big draw. The Cowboys got six prime-time games in each of the past two seasons, and while they may not get that many in 2026, they won’t be fading into obscurity.

“The NFL will likely make a big production out of the Rio game against Baltimore, and Dallas always gets to shine on Thanksgiving.

“Beyond the fact that the Cowboys are an attention-grabbing and divisive team—plenty of folks tune in to see them lose—is the reality that they could be back in the playoff conversation this season.”

Dallas Cowboys 2027 schedule

It is, in fact, too early to be wondering about the 2027 schedule, which will presumably drop in around 367 days, but the Cowboys already know their opponents for 14 of their 17 games.

Dallas will play divisional rivals Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders and New York Giants twice, then will play the AFC East and the NFC South as part of the NFL’s normal rotation. That means games against the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The other three games (against a team from the NFC North, a team from the NFC West and an AFC team) will be based on how they finish in the NFC East.

Caleb Downs jersey

Dallas is not waiting to move Caleb Downs jerseys. Downs is assigned 13 for OTAs that start in June, and while there are indications that could change and in fact it says that on the site selling jerseys, they are showing them with a No. 13.

There is this caveat for the $150 jersey: “This is a pre-order item. Orders containing this item will be shipped separately, 2-4 weeks after the player’s number is officially confirmed. Confirmation will take place no later than the start of the 2026 NFL regular season.”

But the No. 13 looks pretty spiffy, even though he has never worn it at any level for any reason.
