A fuel truck reportedly crashed into the local ABC affiliate KVII studios in a hit-and-run collision in Amarillo around 2:30 a.m. Friday morning, and the incident was caught on surveillance camera at the site.
According to the Amarillo Police Department and the TV station report, the driver of a Dodge Ram 2500 appeared to run a red light at Southeast 11th Avenue and Pierce Street.
The fuel truck, which was headed south on Pierce, hit the driver’s side of the pickup and pushed it over the curb, through the station’s security fence and into the parking lot.
The fuel truck then hit a steel support beam at the northwest corner of the building, and part of the security fence went through a window.
Fortunately, the fuel truck driver was not hurt.
The driver of the pickup and two passengers then reportedly got out of the vehicle and ran.
Police have identified the driver, whose parents came to the scene after he called them about the crash.
There were no injuries reported, and the investigation of the incident is ongoing.
The incident did not affect the staff of KVII or its operation.
The TV station cited a crash report that said the pickup truck’s driver had open containers of alcohol inside the vehicle.
