Tuesday’s joint practice with the Rams gave Cowboys players their first reps against guys in a different uniform… and ended up giving Cowboys fans a real reason to be optimistic heading into the preseason. Reports from the sideline suggest legitimate improvement, especially from Christian Parker’s new-look defense. But it wasn’t just the expected stars who shined brightest in L.A.; youngsters like Shavon Revel and Justin Barron appear ready to make a mark in 2026 based on what they flashed in the joint work session. Today’s headlines also include a full play-by-play look at how the Dallas D stifled Matthew Stafford and the Rams, plus quotes from Brian Schottenheimer and Dak Prescott afterward.
The day also provided the first official depth chart, just ahead of the preseason opener against Seattle. Among the intriguing tidbits: Brevyn Spann-Ford is listed ahead of Luke Schoonmaker at tight end, and unsettled business between Sam Howell and Joe Milton for the backup quarterback role. We’re also looking at the playing surface in New England, which had to be ripped out and replaced in a hurry after the turf was deemed to be “noncompliant” by the NFL. And could Seattle switch to real grass? The new owner seems to be open to the idea.
