The Houston Texans have their leadership council for the 2025 season.
On Wednesday, the Texans named their five team captains leading into the season opener against the Los Angeles Rams. Houston often adds one or two captains during the regular season to bring the total to seven, but they often start at five.
Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud, the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and Pro Bowler, returns as a captain along with fellow 2023 first-round Pro Bowl pick and Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson Jr. Middle linebacker and defensive signal caller Azeez Al-Shaair also returns as a captain after earning the title in camp last season.
This year, there are two new captains: Pro Bowl wide receiver Nico Collins, one of the top players in the NFL, and special-teams standout Dare Ogunbowale. Collins replaces former Pro Bowler Stefon Diggs, who left in free agency this offseason, while Ogunbowale replaces Jon Weeks, Houston’s longest-tenured player and former long snapper.
Kickoff from SoFi Stadium is scheduled for 3:25 p.m. The game will be nationall televised on CBS.
