It appears that one of the myriad of injuries the Dallas Cowboys suffered in the last two weeks is more serious than the rest. On Friday, the club announced a whopping five players were ruled out from Sunday’s action against the New York Jets. Among those was safety Malik Hooker, who suffered a toe injury in the team’s 40-40 tie with the Green Bay Packers last Sunday night.
Fans shouldn’t look for Hooker on Sunday’s inactive list, though. Instead, the club moved him to the injured reserve list (IR) on Saturday, indicating he’s going to be sidelined for at least the next four weeks. Dallas plans to start Juanyeh Thomas in his place. Thomas made a game-altering play last week when he blocked an extra point that was returned for two points. Dallas was down 13-0 and scored 16 straight points.
To fill Hooker’s spot on the 53-man roster, the club signed exciting rookie Alijah “Cinco” Clark from their practice squad. In addition, the team also elevated a couple of players to help augment the offense, as both WR CeeDee Lamb and KaVontae Turpin have been ruled out.
Jalen Cropper and Jalen Brooks will be active on Sunday. The team however did not activate CB Caelen Carson or WR Jonathan Mingo from IR after their 21-day practice windows were opened earlier in the week.
Here’s a look at the club’s 55-man roster ahead of Sunday’s inactives, which will be announced 90 minutes before kickoff.
