5 Texas Tech football players ruled out on initial injury report for BYU game

There were no surprises on the Texas Tech football team’s initial injury/availability report for this week’s game against BYU.

Five players were listed as out on the Wednesday night report, with three receivers (T.J. West, Leyton Stone, and Roy Alexander) listed along with defensive lineman Skyler Gill-Howard and offensive lineman Hunter Zambrano.

Gill-Howard’s continued inclusion on the availability report is notable for one reason. Players who have been declared out for the season do not have to be listed on the Big 12 Conference’s mandated reports. Since Gill-Howard (who had surgery on his ankle last month) continues to occupy a spot on Texas Tech’s report, the Red Raiders remain confident he will return at some point this season, though that timeline has yet to be determined.

BYU’s availability report lists starting running back LJ Martin as probable, putting him in line to be featured in the Cougars’ attack.
