A plane crash near a runway at the Santa Teresa International Jetport in New Mexico left three people with life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
The plane crashed around 11 a.m. on Friday, June 5, at the Santa Teresa International Jetport, 8014 Airport Road, in Santa Teresa, New Mexico, Doña Ana County spokesman Sergio Delgado said in a news release.
The Doña Ana County Fire Rescue and Sunland Park Fire Department responded to the scene and found that the single-engine plane crashed near a runway.
Two people in the plane had already been removed from the aircraft by witnesses, the news release states. A third passenger was trapped inside the wreckage and was rescued following extrication efforts by firefighters.
Two patients were airlifted to a hospital, while a third was taken by ambulance. All three patients suffered life-threatening injuries, the news release states.
New Mexico State Police assisted at the scene. No further information has been released as the crash remains under investigation.
