Which teams advance from the OHSAA girls soccer regional semifinals?

After surviving the district tournament, the top 16 teams in each division went head-to-head tonight in the regional semifinal. Across the five divisions of Ohio High School Athletic Association girls soccer, the Cincinnati area was well represented with 16 competing teams.

See how local teams fared across their regional semifinal matchups.

Division I

Seton 1, Springboro 0

In a rematch of last year’s state semifinal, Seton exacted revenge against Springboro with a 1-0 victory.

The lone score of the match came from Lauren Vaughn, who now leads the team with nine goals on the year. The Saints’ defense, anchored by sophomore goalie Kara Buck, has now shut out all three postseason opponents this year.

Springboro’s season comes to a close with a 16-4-1 record. It was the final night in action for five Panthers seniors: Susan Schaaf, Ellie Ulrich, Hailey Burns, Morgan DeMoss, and Addison Ramby.

The Seton Saints (11-2-6) march on to challenge Centerville (14-3-3) for the regional title and a chance at the state final four.

Centerville 3, Milford 1

Centerville’s offense was just too much for Milford tonight, as the Elks advance to the regional final with a 3-1 win.

In the first half, the Elks notched the lone goal on an Anna Robillard header with 10 minutes to go. Centerville stretched its lead with an Amelia Davis strike, but Milford would not go away quietly as Kensley Carnes scored with just over 15 minutes in the game. The Elks put the game out of reach with a late goal from Addison Hogendoorn in the final five minutes.

Milford finishes its season at 9-6-4. The Eagles graduate six seniors from this year’s roster: Abby Hoevener, Karoline Schultz, Avery Cook, Ella Crompton, and Ava Kelley.

Centerville will continue on to battle for the regional title and a spot in the state final four. The regional final matchup will take place on Saturday, Nov. 1, as the Elks (14-3-3) take on the Seton Saints (11-2-6).

Division II

Anderson 5, Little Miami 0

Anderson is firing on all cylinders in the postseason, taking out conference foe Little Miami 5-0.

The Raptors pounced early to take a 3-0 lead into the halftime break. It was more of the same in the second half as Anderson knocked through two more in a game it thoroughly controlled. Anderson and Little Miami drew their regular-season meeting 0-0, but the Raptors offense has come alive in the playoffs.

Little Miami concludes its season with its first ECC championship and an 11-6-4 record. The Panthers will part with 10 seniors: Mallory Holtkamp, Cassie Kicsak, Emily Bayles, Katie Langan, Emma Hartings, Emma Gausmann, Morgan Reynolds, Alyssa Sparks, Baylee Hatfield, and Kiara Wood.

Anderson (14-4-4) now turns its attention to St. Ursula (12-5-4) for the regional championship.

St. Ursula 4, Harrison 3 (PKs)

St. Ursula and Harrison fought tooth and nail through two overtimes, but it was St. Ursula who secured the decisive 4-3 edge in penalty kicks.

Harrison got on the scoreboard first with an Olivia Neal breakaway, though not until the second half. With just under 10 minutes in regulation, St. Ursula leveled the game at one apiece on a penalty kick. That score would hold all the way through the end of the second overtime, where St. Ursula capitalized to win the shootout.

Harrison concludes their season with a 14-2-4 record. The Wildcats will lose six seniors over the offseason: Sophie Schneider, Reece Lazarus, Isabella Bernhardt, Lana Connelly, Hailey Turner, and Abby Smith.

St. Ursula (12-5-4) now gears up for a regional title bout with the Anderson Raptors (14-4-4).

Division III

Badin 1, McNicholas 0

Badin scored quickly and then relied on its defense to secure a trip to the regional final, shutting out Greater Catholic League-Coed foe McNicholas 1-0.

Lydia Kemper was the lone scorer in the semifinal, scoring with just under 30 minutes remaining in the first half. Badin controlled the flow of the game early and never let go, slowly draining hope away from McNicholas. This was the second meeting between these teams and the second Badin shutout, as the regular-season contest was a 3-0 win for the Rams.

McNicholas bows out of the regional tournament with a 9-4-8 record. The Rockets will send off six seniors: Addison Reineke, Ella Zech, Caroline Frede, Kennedy Steuer, Natalie Cox, and Madison Zurmehly.

Badin (13-3-5) moves on to challenge Oakwood (18-2-2) for the regional crown.

Oakwood 2, Ross 1 (PKs)

Offense was hard to come by in a battle of staunch defenses, but a 0-0 tie was broken in penalty kicks as Oakwood took a 2-1 victory over Ross.

Ross and Oakwood seemed evenly matched throughout regulation and overtime. Neither squad could find purchase offensively, but Oakwood capitalized on the game-ending penalty kicks.

Ross wraps up its season with a 17-3-2 record. The Rams will have to part ways with six seniors: Avery McFarland, Kinley Alexander, Ally Parker, Katie Atkinson, Kaylee Vocke and Kenley Commins.

Oakwood (18-2-2) now looks towards a regional title bout with Badin (13-3-5).

Division IV

Summit Country Day 8, Miami East 0

The reigning state champs cruised in the regional semis, turning in a dominant 8-0 performance against Miami East.

Mia Stevens torched Miami East with four goals tonight, with Sydney Brinkman, Zoe Jackson and Cameron Lorentz each adding one goal. Carolyn Federle was responsible for four assists while Hailey Holscher added two.

Miami East’s season comes to a close with a final record of 15-2-2.

Summit Country Day (19-0-2) will now hone in on the regional title matchup against Indian Hill (17-1-3).

Indian Hill 4, Mariemont 3 (PKs)

Two overtimes weren’t enough to settle the playoff edition of this Cincinnati Hills League rivalry, but Indian Hill finally closed out Mariemont 4-3 in penalty kicks.

The match was a defensive showdown for most of the game. The Braves scored on a Stella Bosley boot with 17 minutes remaining, but the Warriors managed to match with under three minutes to play. That 1-1 score held through two overtime periods with both teams unable to finish off quality possessions. Down to penalty kicks, Indian Hill won on the final penalty kick to seal the 4-3 advantage.

Mariemont concludes the year with a 16-4 overall record. The Warriors will lose five departing seniors: Jane Muller, Ellie Holloway, Bentley Osgood, Isabelle Iwanicki, and Miller Spreen.

Indian Hill (17-1-3) advances to the regional final to test themselves against back-to-back defending champions Summit Country Day (19-0-2).

Division V

Madeira 5, Jamestown Greeneview 0

Madeira’s Olivia Naegeli turned in a hat trick in a 5-0 regional semifinal win over Jamestown Greenview.

Naegeli opened up the scoring with a strike in the first 15 minutes of the game, but the offense took off in the second half. The Amazon avalanche resumed after halftime with a 25-yard precision strike from Emily Dunn. Naegeli would score twice more rapidly in the second half, and Karielys Vasquez-Martinez put on the finishing touches with the team’s fifth goal.

Jamestown Greenview ends their season with a 19-2-1 record.

The Madeira Amazons (16-4-1) are now set to face off against Xenia Legacy Christian (19-2) for the regional title.

Xenia Legacy Christian 3, Cincinnati Country Day 1

Xenia Legacy Christian held Cincinnati Country Day at bay to move on with a 3-1 semifinal win.

The Knights got on the board first, but Josie Hyden knotted the score up at 1-1 with a goal before halftime. The second half would belong to Xenia Legacy Christian as they posted two more goals to ice the win.

Cincinnati Country Day brings its season to a close with a 6-10-1 record. Alyssa Eater will be the lone departing senior for the Nighthawks.

Xenia Legacy Christian (19-2) will get a shot at defending state champions Madeira (16-4-1) in the regional championship.
