When will my street be plowed? Maps track Ohio snow cleanup progress

An overnight winter storm has blanketed much of Ohio in snow on Tuesday, Dec. 2.

The storm covered the Buckeye State in four inches or more of snow, closing schools and causing snow emergencies in several counties.

And that may leave you wondering when the snowplows will clear the roads. Fortunately, many big cities around Ohio offer ways to check. Here’s how.

Columbus Warrior Watch plow map

In Columbus, the Warrior Watch website, maintained by the Department of Public Service, shows which streets have seen snow and ice service activity for the past 72 hours. The map is updated every minute.

The color-coded map displayed by the Warrior Watch shows when a street was last plowed. Times range from three hours to 72 hours. Additionally, you can zoom in on the map and click specific streets to see the exact time and date a plow last went through.

A crawl across the top of the map provides more information, such as what roads are currently being serviced—for example, residential streets.

City of Cincinnati snowplow tracker

Cincinnati’s Department of Public Services maintains an interactive map that shows when and where plows have been out on city streets, and the distance covered by them since the winter weather event started. The map updates once an hour, but is only active when crews are working in 12-hour day and night shifts to cover the entire city.

Like the Columbus map, Cincinnati’s allows users to zoom in on specific streets for the exact date and time a plow was there. It also allows users to report streets that have yet to be treated.

Akron snowplow tracker

Akron’s Snow and Ice Response dashboard, unveiled last year, offers “near real-time information about the city’s snow and ice operations as they are happening,” according to a February 2024 press release from the city. It also includes a snowplow tracker showing if a truck has been on a street within the last hour, between 1–4 hours, between 4–12 hours, between 12–24 hours, or more than 24 hours ago.

The dashboard features the city’s snow and ice plan, response levels, street priorities, parking ban information, FAQs and more. It also includes a link to report a street that hasn’t yet been serviced.

Canton, Cleveland and other Ohio cities snowplow trackers

Around Ohio, big cities like Cleveland, Toledo and Youngstown offer snowplow trackers.

Canton, however, does not, but the city provides information on snow removal and road priority levels on its website. Dayton is similar, providing a winter weather response page.
