The Cleveland Browns refused to go away in their NFL Week 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Huntington Bank Field, a 17-16 final.
The Bengals’ first season-opening win since their Super Bowl-appearance season of 2021 didn’t come easy. Cincinnati needed help from Browns kicker Andre Szymt, an interception by Bengals defensive back DJ Turner off a deflection, and an impressive punt by Ryan Rehkow to pin Joe Flacco and the Browns at their own 1-yard line with less than one minute remaining.
Nevertheless, the Bengals are 1-0. Quarterback Joe Burrow, who led the NFL in passing yards and touchdown passes in 2024, had one TD pass Sunday and just 113 yards, his lowest total in a win in his NFL career.
Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase combined for less than 60 receiving yards.
“We stole one today,” Burrow told reporters after the game.
