It’s time to take a look at the standout high school performers from the Akron area last week.
Your vote will determine who will be the Akron-Area High School Athlete of the Week for Sept. 1-7. We will pick one girl and one boy. Each athlete’s credentials are listed above the poll — which will be live until 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11. The winners will be announced Friday morning, Sept. 12, on BeaconJournal.com.

Here’s a look at the girls nominees, in alphabetical order:
Ava Brooks, Norton tennis
Won three matches in straight sets at first singles, defeating opponents from St. Vincent-St. Mary, Field and Barberton.
Taylor Catlett, Revere soccer
Scored three goals in a 5-1 win over Aurora.
Sam Dehrmann, Archbishop Hoban volleyball
Had 17 kills in a 3-0 win over Kenston and added 16 kills in a 3-0 win over Jackson.
Makayla Martuccio, Tallmadge cross country
Placed second in the Division II race at the Wooster XC Invitational in 18:16.91.
Kalynn Stoner, Copley volleyball
Totaled team highs of 16 digs, 10 kills, 14 service points and four aces in a 3-0 win over Kent Roosevelt.
Here’s a look at the boys nominees, in alphabetical order:
Steven Fakult, Nordonia football
Finished 16-of-21 passing for 335 yards and four touchdowns in 59-46 win over Mayfield.
Brydon Feister, Archbishop Hoban football
Recorded 12 tackles, two tackles for loss, two pass breakups and one forced fumble in a 23-21 win over Detroit King.
Joey Kopec, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy football
Ran for 131 yards and three touchdowns on just six carries in 49-0 win over Woodridge.
Donevan Noah, Tallmadge cross country
Won the Division II race at Wooster XC Invitational in 15:24.25.
Mossimo Russo, Walsh Jesuit golf
Shot an even-par round of 72 to place second individually and lead the Warriors to a first-place finish in the team standings with a score of 301 in the Brunswick High School Co-Ed Invitational.
