Candidates
Josh Wierzba, who graduated in 2006, twice was first-team in the Sandusky Bay Conference for baseball, including player of the year as a junior. He was second-team all-state as a senior. He drove in 119 runs, including 40 in one season. He hit 15 home runs. He was first-team all-league at running back as a junior. He established a program best at the time with 2,629 yards rushing in his career. He continued his baseball career at Toledo.
Adam Thorbahn, who graduated in 2023, established a program record with 1,501 career points for basketball. He was first-team in the Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division three times. He was first-team all-league as a defensive lineman three times and tight end twice for football. He was second-team all-state at tight end as a senior. He continued his football career at Findlay.
Ryan Hicks, who graduated in 2010, finished his basketball career with 1,045 points and 625 rebounds. He was player of the year in the Sandusky Bay Conference and first-team all-state as a senior. He made the all-tourney team for state. He played soccer for two seasons and baseball for one. He continued his basketball career at Defiance.
Jen (Tisza) Steinbrick, who graduated in 2004, twice was first-team in the Sandusky Bay Conference for basketball. She scored 1,196 points and established a program record for rebounds at 886. She continued her career at Dayton.
Derek Colston, who graduated in 2011, had 137 hits for his baseball career, including six in one game. He was all-league in the Sandusky Bay Conference four times. He was recognized all-tourney for state basketball as a junior. He was all-league for football as a senior quarterback. He continued his baseball career at Capital University.
Emily Ashley, who graduated in 2015, was player of the year in the Sandusky Bay Confrence for basketball as a senior. The program won its only conference crown in history. She also played softball.
Logan Meisler, who graduated in 2006, is eighth all-time in Ohio with 182 hits for baseball. He was first-team in the Sandusky Bay Conference three times, including player of the year as a junior. He was first-team all-state as a senior. He played basketball and golf. He continued his baseball career at Bowling Green State.
DC Lanier, who graduated in 2024, established a program record with 1,687 points for her career. She collected 311 steals, including 91 as a junior. She made 193 3-pointers, including 56 as a senior. She was player of the year in the Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division as a senior. She continued her career at Siena Heights.
Andrew Lemmon, who graduated in 2004, finished with 1,130 career points for basketball. He was player of the year in the Sandusky Bay Conference as a senior. He also played football and track. He continued his basketball career at Heidelberg.
Kami Periat, who graduated in 2024, captured a state championship in the 100 backstroke as a junior for swimming. She was runner-up in the 50 freestyle as a sophomore and 100 freestyle as a senior. She was third in the backstroke as a senior, third in the 50 freestyle as a junior and part of a third-place 200 freestyle relay as a junior. She also ran track. She continued her swim career at Minnesota.
