Top 10 things to do this weekend (Pride Month kickoff edition)

June is here, and several Cincinnati-area communities are kicking off Pride Month celebrations this weekend. Food lovers can dig into delicious Mediterranean dishes at Taste of Lebanon, while beer enthusiasts won’t want to miss Jungle Jim’s International Craft Beer Festival.

If you’re looking to get outside and soak up some sunshine, check out Augusta’s Art in the Garden or take a stroll through the Newport Garden Walk. And for those ready to lace up their running shoes, be sure to sign up for the Redlegs Run.

1. Pride celebrations

June is Pride Month, and there are plenty of ways to get together with your community to celebrate. Enjoy parades and explore festivals with various vendor booths, activities for kids, music, great food and performances.

2. Redlegs Run

This charity events offers a 10K, 5K, one-mile and Gapper’s Kids Fun Run. Participants receive custom race medal, shirt and chip-timing with live results. Celebrate at the post-race party in the fan zone. Also included is a view-level ticket to the June 15 game.

3. The Taste of Lebanon: Mediterranean Food Festival

Sample a variety of Lebanese dishes, such as fried kibbeh, grape leaves, tabouli salad, mujadara, spinach pies, homemade hummus and pita.

4. Art in the Garden

During this one-day event, travel to the Kentucky side of the river to see over 50 local and regional artists exhibiting their work along Riverside Drive in Augusta. Explore a variety of art vendors, choose from a wide array of local cuisine and jam out to live acoustic music.

5. Newport Garden Walk

Eight private gardens will be open for visitors as well as a Rest and Relaxation site. Save time for a visit to the vendor market on the lawn of St. John’s United Church at Park Avenue and Nelson Place. Take part in a flower arrangement design class 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

6. Rising Sun Summer Fest

Enjoy food trucks, an arts and crafts fair, a Kid Zone with inflatables, face painting, live music and more.

7. Ohio Valley Indigenous Music Festival

See world-class, award-winning Native American-style flute music performances. Flute artists will hold a variety of workshops, such as flint knapping and songwriting.

8. Jungle Jim’s International Craft Beer Festival

Sample from hundreds of beers from more than 100 different breweries. There are two sessions to choose from: afternoon and evening. If you’re a beer lover, here’s your dream come true.

9. Lebanon Festival of the Arts

Art exhibitions will showcase the works of local and regional artists across a variety of mediums. See live performances and learn new techniques from the artists at demonstrations.

10. U.S. 25 Yard Sale

Explore hundreds of yard sales along 200 miles of U.S. 25.
