Norwood’s flagship shopping center just got a lot less British.
After 25 “wonderful” years of serving up fish and chips in Rookwood Commons, The Pub Rookwood has permanently closed July 29, Tavern Restaurant Group said in a news release.
The decision to close the Rookwood location comes as the restaurant group undergoes a restructuring, citing “challenging economic conditions and rising operating costs.”
“We are deeply grateful to our guests, team members, and the Rookwood community for their support over the years,” CEO Nick Sanders said in the release. “While retiring this location is difficult, we feel it best aligns with our strategy for the success and future of the brand.”
Despite the closure, fried fish lovers can still get their pub fix at The Pub London Street Food in Element Eatery in Madisonville and The Pub at Crestview Hills Town Center.
The restaurant group is also converting a large bar to bring the pub spirit to deSha’s in Symmes Township.
“Though this chapter is coming to a close, the company remains committed to delivering great food, memorable experiences and genuine hospitality at its other locations and in future growth opportunities,” the release said.
Tavern Restaurant Group said in the release it is working to support Rookwood employees through this transition.
The UK’s largest pub retailer, brewer, and top-selling ale awarded The Pub for “Best Fish and Chips in the U.S.” in 2018.
