Teen killed in one-vehicle crash in Green; alcohol suspected

GREEN ‒ A 17-year-old boy died following in a one-vehicle crash Sept. 7 that appears to be alcohol related, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The teen, who was not wearing a seat belt, was southbound at 2 a.m. in a 2011 Suzuki Kizashi on South Arlington Road just south of Lake Breeze Drive and lost control, traveling off the right side of the road, striking a ditch and overturning several times, the patrol said.

The driver, who was the only occupant, sustained serious injuries. He was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The patrol has not released the name of the driver.

The patrol was assisted on scene by Summit County Sheriff’s Office and Green Fire and EMS.

The crash remains under investigation.
