Summit Co. Sheriff's sergeant on unpaid leave, faces criminal charges

A 44-year-old Summit County Sheriff’s Office sergeant is on unpaid administrative leave after Stark County prosecutors charged him in an alleged domestic incident.

Joshua Bolinger is charged with endangering children, domestic violence and three counts of strangulation, according to Stark County Common Pleas Court records.

Court documents show he intends to argue self-defense. Attorney Jonathan Sinn represents him.

Bolinger, who has worked with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office since at least 2006, was placed on unpaid leave, the sheriff’s office confirmed.

He is next scheduled for a pretrial hearing on May 21.
