CANTON ‒ Stark County’s Overdose Awareness Committee is hosting an Overdose Awareness Day event from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 15 at Crenshaw Park, 1500 Sherrick Rd. SE, ahead of International Overdose Awareness Day on Aug. 31.
The free, family-friendly event will include moments of silence, inspiring speakers, a button-making station, a memorial activity by Light After Loss, and a drumming session by Warrior Beat.
There will also be resource tables, giveaways and free food. Everyone is welcome, and no registration is required. Show your interest in the event using the Facebook event page https://www.facebook.com/events/1003270685885491.
In addition to hosting events like this, the Opiate & Addiction Task Force and other community partners work year-round on prevention, intervention, and treatment strategies that mitigate the potential for overdose.
