Police have identified the skeletal remains found in West Price Hill as a woman who had been missing for six months.
The remains found in a wooded area near the 1800 block of Minion Avenue at the end of July belonged to Mercedes Southard, according to Cincinnati police spokesperson Brad Underwood.
Southard was reported missing in the West Price Hill area on Feb. 3 after she left her residence and never came back.
Dental records allowed police to confirm the identity, Underwood said.
Underwood added that it’s not known if there are any suspects or people of interest at this time, but the homicide unit is investigating the case.
Southard’s family has started a SupportNow. According to the post, Southard was a mother, leaving behind four children.
