WAYNE TOWNSHIP ‒ Two Wayne Township men are being held in the Tuscarawas County Jail after an argument escalated into the men assaulting each other and one of them firing warning shots from a handgun.
The incident occurred at a Kohr Road NW residence northwest of Dundee at about 8:09 p.m. May 15.
According to Detective Capt. Adam Fisher of the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, a 45-year-old woman was having an argument with her 23-year-old boyfriend when her 24-year-old son intervened. The three people live together at the residence.
The boyfriend and the son then got into an argument. As the argument escalated, it moved outside, where the two suspects assaulted each other, and they used vehicles to try and run each other over, Fisher said. The son also picked up a shovel and tried to hit the boyfriend.
Eventually, the son went inside and retrieved a .22-caliber handgun and fired several warning shots outside. No one was hit and no one was injured, Fisher said.
Deputies collected the handgun as evidence, along with seven spent shell casings, he said.
Both the son and the boyfriend are facing charges.
