Runners ace festival run along Iron Horse Trail

Runners and walkers had a sunny start July 25 and easily handled the Carnation Trail Run along Iron Horse Trail in Alliance. The long-running Greater Alliance Carnation Festival event had a new date and time this year, adopting an early-morning start on a weekend day just before the official start of the 66th festival. The overall winner was Gary Pate, who took the crown for the fifth time in the past nine years. Female winner was 17-year-old Brin Boyce. The festival will run through Aug. 9 at various sites around the Carnation City. Check out the website for details on more than 30 events.
