Jackson Gieseler fired a 66 at The Links at Echo Springs on Aug. 5, taking medalist honors and leading the Licking Valley boys golf team to the championship at the Utica Invitational.
Gieseler recorded six birdies without a bogey, shooting 6 under. Brody Wolfe added a 76 to place fourth and Easton Flowers and Syler Elliott 83 apiece, finishing a tie for 10th for the Panthers, who totaled 308, finishing ahead of runner-up Johnstown’s 321.
Will Taylor, who recorded eagles on No. 14 and No. 16, shot 69 to take runner-up for the Johnnies. Utica’s Jaxson Riggs shot 75 to place third.
Johnstown’s Keaton Archibald added 78 to take fifth. Liberty Christian’s MJ Glenn shot 79 to place sixth, Licking Heights’ A.J. Karl-Cassette 80 to place seventh, Northridge’s Ben Hoover 81 to place eighth and teammate Anthony Davis 82 to place ninth and Northridge’s Titus Hardin, Heights’ Peyton Pennington and Newark Catholic’s Trey Bentz 83 each as a part of the six-way tie for 10th.
Fields takes fourth
Grady Fields birdied his final hole to shoot 75 at Turnberry and place fourth for Newark at the first Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division tournament of the season.
Will Bolte followed with a 79 to place eighth, and Jaden Sines shot 84 to place 17th for the Wildcats, who totaled 330 to take third in the team standings.
GIRLS GOLF
Booher leads Watkins
Emma Booher shot 85 at Groveport Municipal to tie for 23th for Watkins Memorial at the Pickerington North Lady Panther Invitational.
Ella Yost followed with an 86 to finish 28th and Hailey Smith a 93 in 45th for the Warriors.
