Report: FC Cincinnati made 'good offer' to Bayern Munich legend Thomas Muller

FC Cincinnati co-CEO Jeff Berding is hopeful to lure Bayern Munich legend Thomas Muller to the Orange and Blue, according to a report on Wednesday, June 18 from The Athletic’s Sebastian Stafford-Bloor.

Muller, a 35-year-old midfielder, has won 13 Bundesliga titles with Bayern and won the FIFA World Cup with Germany in 2014.

Muller is set to leave Bayern after the Club World Cup and Berding told the German newspaper Bild that FC Cincinnati has made him a “good offer” if he decides to jump to the MLS.

From Stafford-Bloor, The Athletic:

“We had several discussions with his advisors. In the end, he has many options. We respect it if he and his advisors are looking for something else. That’s part of the football business. It’s not over until he signs with another club. We know this is his farewell tour here with Bayern Munich, and he’ll then decide what to do next. We also know what we have here: a big stadium, a good atmosphere and great conditions… We are a club with a great German history, and we are capable of winning titles. Thomas is a winner; he has won a lot. We think he would fit in very well with us.”

To open his farewell tour at the Club World Cup, Muller scored a pair of goals in Bayern’s 10-0 victory over Auckland City at TQL Stadium on June 15. Bayern continues the group stage against Boca Juniors on Friday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

FC Cincinnati (10-5-3, 33 points) remains in second place in the Eastern Conference following its 1-0 road win over New England on Saturday. FC Cincinnati has the weekend off before visiting CF Montreal on Wednesday, June 25.
