ZANESVILLE – The Ohio State Highway Patrol believes that the lack of a seat belt was a factor after a UTV crash in Muskingum County on Sept. 21 resulted in one fatality.
Driver Sean Troyer, 22, of Sugarcreek, was pronounced deceased at the scene, stated the Highway Patrol’s Zanesville Post in an announcement Sept. 21.
Troyer reportedly failed to negotiate a turn while traveling east on Blue Rock Township’s Ridgeview Road. The vehicle, a 2022 Polaris Ranger, veered right off the road, struck an embankment, and overturned.
A passenger was also involved, only sustaining minor injuries. They were transported to Genesis Hospital.
The investigation is still underway. The Times Recorder is seeking additional updates.
