The first Ag Olympics took place on April 20 behind the ag shop, bringing together members from the Hillsdale FFA Chapter, Norwayne FFA Chapter, and Black River FFA Chapter, and our own Northwestern FFA Chapter for a fun night of friendly competition.
Participants from each school competed in a variety of activities. In the wheelbarrow race, one person sits in a wheelbarrow while their partner pushes them around cones. In the straw bale high jump, players take turns throwing a straw bale over a bar that gets higher each round. Table surfing involves one person sitting on an upside-down table held up by teammates lying on the ground, who roll it forward before running to the front to continue. In rope the bull, players stand a short distance away and try to lasso a target. Catch the broom has players standing in a circle holding brooms upright, then moving to catch the next broom before it falls when signaled.
The bucket walk requires players to stand on upside-down buckets and use attached strings to walk forward. In walking the plank, players create a moving path with wooden planks while one person walks across. Sword fight gives each player two pool noodle halves, one as a sword and one with a cup on top to try and knock off their opponent’s cup. Finally, in the knot relay, two players sit back-to-back with arms locked, stand up together, and complete a relay without unlocking arms.
Food was provided, including mac and cheese, pulled pork, pies, and cobblers.
The Ag Olympics was a huge success and congratulations to the Northwestern FFA Chapter for taking home Gold!
