Beechwood leads the way in Northern Kentucky honors as high school baseball players are being recognized.
The Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference has named its top players, splitting the area into three divisions. The Northern Kentucky Baseball Coaches Association splits the region into big-school and small-school divisions and honors players by position.
Beechwood junior Tyler Fryman was named the NKAC Division II player of the year and the Ninth Region player of the year. The Louisville commit is hitting .545 with 50 RBIs, 60 runs scored, 39 steals, 11 homers and 35 extra-base hits as the Tigers will play in next week’s state tournament after winning the Ninth Region. Beechwood had four all-NKAC honorees and five all-coaches awards.

Eighth and Tenth Region all-region honors
Walton-Verona’s Bronson Corpus was named Eighth Region Player of the Year. He was 6-3 with a 1.58 ERA on the mound, 88 strikeouts and just eight walks in 58 innings. At the plate, he hit .382 with nine home runs and 42 RBIs.
Simon Kenton’s Brett Bockmon was named to the all-region team. The Pioneers lost in the regional semifinals to eventual champ South Oldham.
Campbell County senior Tyler Schumacher is the 10th Region player of the year. He is 7-1 on the mound with a 1.16 ERA and 97 strikeouts plus only 10 walks in 54 innings. At the plate, he bats. 514 with seven home runs, 34 RBIs, 56 runs scored, 11 doubles and three triples.
The Camels play in the regional semifinals 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30 at Brossart’s off-campus athletic complex.
Schumacher and Camden Tiemeier were named senior all-stars. Gavin Kramer is a junior all-star and Dennis “Trip” Mercurio a sophomore all-star.
Brossart’s Isaac Amin was named a senior all-star, and Brady Rowe a sophomore honoree.
Scott’s Jay Race is a junior all-star and Ty Cook a sophomore honoree.
Pendleton County’s Nate Jones was named coach of the year.
