It feels like fall colors just arrived, but it won’t be long until Ohio starts thinking about the winter weather forecast and planning for the first snow.

What’s the NOAA temperature forecast for winter in Ohio, Northern Kentucky?

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recently released its three-month temperature and precipitation outlook for December, January and February for Ohio and the rest of the country.

According to NOAA, Ohio and Northern Kentucky are likely to experience normal winter temperatures from December to February.

All portions of Ohio, including Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton and Toledo, are predicted to have an equal chance of seeing typical seasonal temperatures during the winter.

It looks like there will be enough snow for plenty of snow angels and snowmen in Ohio and Kentucky this winter.

For precipitation, Ohio is forecast to experience above-normal precipitation.

The NOAA forecasts most of Ohio to have higher chances of precipitation at 40–50% above average for December, January and February. Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland are included in that area of higher precipitation.

A curving band stretching from northeastern to south central Ohio and northeastern Kentucky is expected to have 33-40% higher chances of experiencing above-average precipitation for December, January and February. Akron and Canton sit on the edge of the two areas that NOAA predicts will see more snowfall.
