No Bogey Inn event for this year's Memorial Tournament. Why the Dublin site sits empty

The Bogey Inn won’t be reopening in time for the Memorial Tournament, but plans are beginning to take shape for what could eventually replace the iconic Dublin landmark.

For decades, the Bogey Inn served as one of the most recognizable gathering spots during tournament week, drawing golf fans, visitors and locals to the longtime restaurant and bar. But this year’s tournament will come and go without the Bogey Inn or its annual tournament-week party.

While redevelopment plans previously announced for the site have not materialized, those involved with the property say conversations about its future are continuing.

Bogey Inn won’t be open for the Memorial Tournament

The Memorial Tournament begins this week at Muirfield Village Golf Club, bringing thousands of golf fans to Dublin and central Ohio.

But one longtime tournament tradition will be absent.

The Bogey Inn property remains closed and will not host tournament-week events this year. The annual Bogey Party, which had become a staple of Memorial Tournament week, has also been canceled.

The property announced in a May 22 Instagram post that it will not host Memorial Tournament parties this year and instead will serve as an ADA parking lot during tournament week.

The closure means one of the area’s most recognizable tournament-week destinations will sit largely inactive during one of Dublin’s busiest weeks of the year.

Officials with the Memorial Tournament and Muirfield Village Golf Club told Columbus Business First their immediate focus remains on tournament week. Once the event concludes June 7, attention will shift to the future of the former Bogey Inn site, where property owners plan to seek redevelopment proposals for the vacant land.

What happened to redevelopment plans?

In 2025, Rise Brands and Memorial Tournament officials announced plans to transform the Bogey Inn site into a new entertainment destination centered around golf.

The proposal included a large putting course, food and beverage offerings, event space and other attractions designed to create a year-round destination near Muirfield Village Golf Club.

At the time, developers said the project would build on the site’s history while creating a new gathering place for golf fans and visitors.

However, that proposal has since been scrapped after developers determined the project was not feasible because of significant site challenges, Rise Brands CEO Hana Hesselgesser told The Dispatch in February.

What’s next for the Bogey Inn site?

Muirfield Village Golf Club is preparing a request for proposals, or RFP, to attract ideas for the roughly 3-acre property, according to an article by Columbus Business First.

Dan Sullivan, executive director of the Memorial Tournament, told the publication officials remain open-minded about what could ultimately be developed on the site.

While future development will need to address engineering and environmental challenges, including sinkholes and road improvements, officials say restaurant, hospitality and event-related concepts are among the leading possibilities for the site.
