Learn about McKinley’s campaign

CANTON – The McKinley Presidential Library & Museum, 800 McKinley Monument Drive NW, will host its first Soup at Six Series for 2026 on Jan. 22 with an in-depth look at how William McKinley’s Front Porch Campaign led to his White House victory.

Souper Bowl fundraiser

PERRY TWP. – Mercy Service League will host the 2026 Souper Bowl from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Canton McKinley Eagles Club, 5024 Monticello St. NW.

The family-friendly culinary event will feature soups from top area restaurants competing to be named Best Soup in Stark County. Cost is $35 and includes all-you-can-eat soup, breadsticks, dessert and beverages, including wine, beer and soft drinks. All proceeds will provide safe sleep sacks for each baby born at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital.

Participating restaurants include Buehler’s, Burrata Italian Kitchen, Basil Asian Bistro, Tim’s Tavern, 63 Corks, Gregory’s, Dog Daze, Astoria Grille, Carolina BBQ, Samantha’s at Oakwood Square and Aladdin’s.

Culinary students from Perry and North Canton Hoover high schools also will participate.

The cost is $35 and includes all you can eat soup, breadsticks, dessert and beverages, including wine, beer and soft drinks.

Movie at the Palace

CANTON ‒ The Palace Theatre, 605 Market Ave. N, will show the movie “One Battle After Another” at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 16 and 17, and at 2 p.m. Jan. 18. Admission is $10; seating is general admission. Event for Girl Scouts

CANTON – The McKinley Presidential Library & Museum will host an Evening at the Museum: Cadette Girl Scout Badge Blitz from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 23.

Observe and explore light, deepening your understanding of the sun, stars and other objects in space in the Hoover-Price Planetarium. The Badge Blitz covers sections of Space Science Researcher, Cadette STEM Career Exploration, and Democracy for Cadettes.

Learn about Ohio’s first ladies

CANTON – The National First Ladies Library and Museum, 205 Market Ave. S, will present Third Thursday: Wine & Cheese — Ohio’s Firsts & Originals from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 15.

Enjoy wine and cheese and learn about Ohio’s legacy of seven first ladies — Anna Harrison, Lucy Hayes, Lucretia Garfield, Caroline Harrison, Ida McKinley, Helen Taft, and Florence Harding. This program highlights the artifacts and stories that connect these women to Ohio and to the history of the American presidency. Indoor farmers market

CANTON – An indoor farmers market will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Canton Museum of Art, 1001 Market Ave. N.

In addition to food vendors, there will be health and wellness products, free soup and bread samples, recycled arts and crafts demonstrations, free seeds, balloon art, and kids’ activities with books, toys and coloring sheets. Admission is free.

Indoor farmers markets will continue at the museum on the third Saturday of each month, Feb. 21, March 21, April 18 and May 16.

Tribute show

CANTON TWP. – A Rock ‘n’ Roll Cabaret, a tribute to the hits of Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, Elton John and Carole King, will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at Tozzi’s, 4210 12th St. NW. Stark County Civil War Roundtable to meet

LAKE TWP. – The Stark County Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 15 at the United Methodist Church, 3088 State St. NW. Brian Burtka will present a first-person program on Gen. Winfield Scott Hancock, commander of the U.S. Second Corps.

2026 dues are $25 per member, or $30 for two or more at the same residence. The nonmember meeting fee is $4.

Massillon’s bicentennial kickoff

MASSILLON – A free event from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Lions Lincoln Theatre, 156 Lincoln Way E, will launch Massillon’s bicentennial celebration. Everyone is welcome, and no reservations are required. The event is casual. Guests can drop in or stay for the entire time.

Continuous films of Massillon’s past will be shown. Some have sound, like a narration by hometown hero David Canary. Others are silent, but local historian Rudy Turkal will comment on some of the action. Interspersed with the films, he and fellow local historian Margy Vogt will ask trivia questions about the community’s past. Guests can play for prizes.

Films include footage of skating on the reservoir, fires, the Sugar Bowl, the Paul Brown and Red Bird era, then-and-now cityscapes, football traditions, businesses, and schoolchildren from the 1930s. Turkal will display some of the Massillon artifacts from his personal collection. Guests can buy popcorn and soft drinks in the theater’s concession area.

Comedy show

MASSILLON – Dry Bar Comedy star Jeff Allen will perform his Love & Laughter: Cautionary Tales from an Old Guy show at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 16 at Lions Lincoln Theatre, 156 Lincoln Way E. For tickets and more information, visit https://www.lionslincolntheatre.or call 330-481-9105.

Children can create snacks

NORTH CANTON – The North Canton Public Library, 185 N. Main St., invites children in grades 2-5 to the Snack-tastic Creations program from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 29. Learn how to make creative and delicious snacks and leave with recipes and treats to share. Registration begins Jan. 12 at northcantonlibrary.org.

Kids can learn about the orchestra

PLAIN TWP. – Symphonyland Strings will perform at 10 and 11 a.m. Jan. 17 at the Stark Library Plain Community Branch, 1803 Schneider St. NE. This free Canton Symphony Orchestra series of instrument trio performances introduces students (ages 3-6) to the world of the orchestra.
